China Opens the First Humanoid Robot Mall

China Opens the First Humanoid Robot Mall

China has launched the world’s first humanoid robot mall in Beijing. The four-storey space operates like a car dealership, but for robots. It offers sales, servicing, spare parts, and customer feedback areas in one location.

A New Way to Shop for Robots

The Robot Mall features over 100 robots from brands like Ubtech Robotics and Unitree Robotics. Prices range from 2,000 yuan for small gadgets to several million yuan for advanced humanoids. Showpieces include a life-size Albert Einstein humanoid worth about $97,000.

The mall sells robots for home and professional use. Models can cook, serve coffee, play chess, or perform in a robot band. Visitors can watch robot sports like soccer or interact with robot dogs and animatronic historical figures.

More Than a Showroom

The mall is designed as a hands-on experience. Visitors can test robots, explore their capabilities, and see them in action. There is also a robot-themed restaurant where meals are cooked and served entirely by machines.

Part of a Bigger Push

This launch is part of China’s strategy to lead in robotics and AI. The country has invested more than $20 billion in subsidies for robotics in the past year. A new $137 billion fund for AI and robotics startups is also planned.

The opening coincided with the 2025 World Robot Conference and comes just before the first World Humanoid Robot Games. The events draw attention to China’s ambition to normalise robot use in daily life.

ROI for the Robotics Industry

The Robot Mall is more than a retail venture. It is a testing ground where companies can gather real-world data on performance and customer preferences. This shortens development cycles, improves product fit, and speeds up time to market.

By showcasing robots in a public, interactive space, the mall builds consumer trust and demand. Increased sales can help recover the high cost of R&D and boost profitability for manufacturers. For investors, it signals strong government backing and a rapidly growing domestic market.

The Global Impact

China’s move may influence other countries to develop similar spaces. It positions Beijing’s E-Town district as a global robotics hub and challenges competitors like the US to respond.

The Robot Mall is not just a store. It is a statement that robots are ready to move from the lab into everyday life.
